The Winward New Orleans area waterfront vacation rental property
The Winward New Orleans area waterfront vacation rental property
Beautiful, comfortable, well appointed! When we first pulled into the development and saw so many houses, we were worried about privacy. It was absolutely not an issue at all. We... read more spent most of our time on the amazing deck and enjoyed every second of it. Enjoyed the birds, the ducks and the mullet jumping. Enjoyed watching the boats go by. Very relaxing! Probably the best vacation rental we’ve ever used. And, Lisa is a very fast communicator which is so appreciated!
The space offered nice sleeping arrangements for a large family group. We really enjoyed the outdoor area. The deck was large and offered a lot of seating. ... read more The rooms were as pictured and the host responded promptly to messages.
The accommodations were okay. The trash and refrigerator had not been emptied/cleaned. A few water stains on the ceiling. The outer exterior trim, eaves, and gutters are in need... read more of cleaning and/or painting.
Communication was less than desirable.
Listing the rules once, with a required acknowledgement and agreement was sufficient. However, the number of times the rules were communicated, in addition to being posted in the home was a little excessive.
There were more than twenty-five directives and/or rules. Specific and detailed (i.e. don't take make-up off with towels, no consumption of red juice, use of markers or crayons, all things that have the potential of staining the white linen). In addition to letting the exterior umbrella down and keeping the exterior furniture cushions under the covered deck, due to concern of care and specific interior temputure settings.
I asked more than three times about one specific item, the complimentary kayak that was listed as available. I went on to mention that this was the deciding factor in booking the home.
It would seem only appropriate to be as detailed and meticulous regarding communication about the condition of the kayak.
This item was dirty. There was stagnate water and slime everywhere. It was covered in algae. It had not been properly stored and was not in any condition to be used.
There is only dock access, no latter. Anyone using the kayak would have to launch from the dock. This is definitely not suitable for small children and tricky. In addition, the kayak that was provided was not long enough to be tied between the dock posts with what was left as rope.
We ended up purchasing inflatable kayaks.
Lisa’s place was amazing! We had a work trip and stayed here four nights, the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and all the rooms had stylish decor. ... read more Bathrooms well stocked and water pressure was amazing! Lastly even though we only used two of the four bedrooms the mattress was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows to accommodate even the pickiest of sleepers! We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I recently stayed in one of Lisa’s properties. This was our first time renting with Airbnb. In light of the pandemic, we thought this was... read more a cleaner, safer option for us. The home was very well appointed and extremely clean. There are two bedrooms downstairs and three upstairs. Since it was just the two of us, we opted to stay downstairs. We had three major issues with our stay. Two hours prior to our arrival (one hour after our check-in time) we were contacted by Lisa. She wanted to let me know that the downstairs portion of the home was found to be warmer than normal and she was having an air conditioning company come out to assess the unit. When we arrived at 6 pm, the air conditioner repairman was at home. The house was extremely warm. After conversing with the repairman, we were made aware that the units in the home were old. He stated that “we should not have an issue, but to just contact him if it goes out again.” This concerned us to the point that we contacted Lisa to find out if a plan B existed. The best she could offer us is to maybe put us in another home that was still needing to be cleaned. Thankfully, the unit held up during our three-day stay. The next issue we had with the home was the following day. We were visiting for a funeral. The next day we were contacted by Lisa. She wanted to let us know that the owner wanted to pick up his trailer that was residing in the driveway. We told Lisa we would be gone after 5 pm due to the funeral. At 3:30 pm the doorbell rang. Two workers were at the door wanting us to move our vehicle so they could get the trailer. When I explained to them that we were getting ready for a funeral and would be leaving soon, they acted very put out when we asked them to give us a few minutes to finish getting dressed. About 15 minutes later another knock on the door. The gentleman said he was in a hurry and was trying to rush us out of the way. We left the home at 4:30 to attend the funeral. Lastly, at night we had a scare. When we set up in the room downstairs, we noticed that the air vent was closed. Well with the heat in the house, we opened up the vent. Apparently, the air vents make a high-pitched noise. We literally thought there was a wild animal in the house. Sounded like a possum in distress.
I want to address some of the other concerns noted by other reviewers. The home does feature a very steep driveway. We were in a Subaru Outback and did not have any issues but if you aren’t used to driving on steep areas it could be an issue. Also, the neighbors are NOT a fan of (Hidden by Airbnb) /Airbnb renters and they have made this known with two big signs located in the backyard of the property. When you set on the deck at night, there is a sign that says “ (Hidden by Airbnb) Renters Not Welcome”. Also, don’t plan on grilling. The grill was small and not clean.
You would think for $400 dollars a night, we would not have to worry about the air conditioner and working around the owner’s schedule. Other than that, the house was very quiet, clean and we had a good stay.
I would rent again with Lisa, but I would not rent that house again.

Thorns:
1. Light in upstairs bedroom closet.
2. Garbage disposal is essential and needed in kitchen where there will be lots of cooking
3. Toilet paper holder in upstairs bathroom was loose.
4. Reverse one of the bunk beds such that the ladders do not face each other. The current configuration forces use of only one ladder at a time which makes it tough for guests when that room is fully occupied.

The home was spotless, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals at home, no one ever ran out of hot water, and we especially liked the heaters in the bathrooms. The pool and deck area are gorgeous, and so tranquil just to sit out there and enjoy some time outside (unfortunately it was a little chilly during our stay, so we opted not to use the pool, but we so wanted to!). There was plenty of room, inside and out, to spend lots of time together, but also plenty of opportunity to have our own space and downtime apart from the rest of the group. We loved the location of this home too, because we had easy access to New Orleans/French Quarter, Airport, but also Slidell, the local swamps/lakes/bayous, as well as Mississippi and its beautiful white sandy beaches.
As far as other reviews had mentioned: we had zero issues with any neighbors (or signs), and the driveway was no issue for a full-size SUV nor a sedan.
