New Orleans Vacation Homes – Review 2
New Orleans Vacation Homes – Review 2
First time to stay at Sea la Vie and would definitely return. The property was awesome and house was exactly as described. Thank you Lisa for an excellent experience.
The Windward house was perfect! The description of the home prior to booking is accurate, and Lisa was very thorough with expectations and recommendations. We had a total of 8... read more guests during our stay and we couldn’t have asked for a better retreat. The home was spotless, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals at home, no one ever ran out of hot water, and we especially liked the heaters in the bathrooms. The pool and deck area are gorgeous, and so tranquil just to sit out there and enjoy some time outside (unfortunately it was a little chilly during our stay, so we opted not to use the pool, but we so wanted to!). There was plenty of room, inside and out, to spend lots of time together, but also plenty of opportunity to have our own space and downtime apart from the rest of the group. We loved the location of this home too, because we had easy access to New Orleans/French Quarter, Airport, but also Slidell, the local swamps/lakes/bayous, as well as Mississippi and its beautiful white sandy beaches.
As far as other reviews had mentioned: we had zero issues with any neighbors (or signs), and the driveway was no issue for a full-size SUV nor a sedan.
I would highly recommend this home away from home, and would love to visit again someday!
The host responded quickly when contacted. The house is like the pictures. My only issue is that host wanted extreme care with her white towels but had no towels for... read more pool or boating. House was not stocked so bring all what you need. I had to buy pitchers and paper products.
There are bugs but host said it was the south. Maybe so.
Ok place to stay. Family had a good time.
This house was probably one of the most beautiful houses my friends and I have ever stayed at during one of our trips. It looked exactly like the photos on... read more the listing but those photos do not do it justice. The only way for you to know, is to book this place immediately. Everything was super clean and nicely organized for when we got there. Clean kitchen and bathroom. Whenever I needed help, Lisa was super responsive and was happy to help. The pool was very nice and clean. A pool cleaner does come by every Friday to clean it from leaves and makes sure everything is in proper order. The view from the private dock was amazing too. Sunset and sunrise, the view was great! All in all this place was amazing and I really recommend it to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and private stay.
We had a great time. House was pretty, backyard was wonderful. House was spacious and light. It would have been nice to have room darkening window treatments in the master... read more bedroom, kitchen and family room. We had someone sleeping in the family room and it was very bright in the morning. The kayak was fun. Everyone loved fishing! We swam in the pool and enjoyed the beautiful view off the deck. Great location to be outside of new orleans yet close enough to head in to do things. Other amenities were close by. Great location!
Mostly roses and maybe a couple thorns. Overall it was a lovely stay and property, and we would totally book again. This is really a 4.5 rating and can... read more easily be a 5 for other guests if host decides to address the thorns.
Roses:
1. Loved the laminated checkout guidelines that were easy to find and follow.
2. Loved the decor.
3. Loved the patio design and generous outdoor seating.
4. Good entertainment options and apps on the smart TVs.
5. Overall great location. Excellent access to highway.
6. Appreciate that there were multiple games for guests to choose from.
7. Well equipped kitchen for guests who are serious about cooking dishes like gumbo.
8. Loved the laundry and that there was a mop sink.
9. Not many fish in the waterway, but having a fishing pole was a nice touch (smile :)
10. Would absolutely book again in the future, and recommend it to family and friends.

Thorns:
1. Light in upstairs bedroom closet.
2. Garbage disposal is essential and needed in kitchen where there will be lots of cooking
3. Toilet paper holder in upstairs bathroom was loose.
4. Reverse one of the bunk beds such that the ladders do not face each other. The current configuration forces use of only one ladder at a time which makes it tough for guests when that room is fully occupied.
Nice place but parking in the driveway was a pain. The driveway is super steep and I scraped the bottom and sides of my car every time I had... read more to park it.
Also, only 2 full bathrooms. If you stay downstairs you will have to go upstairs to use the shower or use the one in the other bedroom downstairs.
Beautiful and peaceful house with all you need. We had a great family time and the kids enjoyed fishing and playing in the water. We will totally be back again.
The accommodations were okay. The trash and refrigerator had not been emptied/cleaned. A few water stains on the ceiling. The outer exterior trim, eaves, and gutters are in need... read more of cleaning and/or painting.
Communication was less than desirable.
Listing the rules once, with a required acknowledgement and agreement was sufficient. However, the number of times the rules were communicated, in addition to being posted in the home was a little excessive.
There were more than twenty-five directives and/or rules. Specific and detailed (i.e. don't take make-up off with towels, no consumption of red juice, use of markers or crayons, all things that have the potential of staining the white linen). In addition to letting the exterior umbrella down and keeping the exterior furniture cushions under the covered deck, due to concern of care and specific interior temputure settings.
I asked more than three times about one specific item, the complimentary kayak that was listed as available. I went on to mention that this was the deciding factor in booking the home.
It would seem only appropriate to be as detailed and meticulous regarding communication about the condition of the kayak.
This item was dirty. There was stagnate water and slime everywhere. It was covered in algae. It had not been properly stored and was not in any condition to be used.
There is only dock access, no latter. Anyone using the kayak would have to launch from the dock. This is definitely not suitable for small children and tricky. In addition, the kayak that was provided was not long enough to be tied between the dock posts with what was left as rope.
We ended up purchasing inflatable kayaks.
This house was the perfect size for 4 of us to come visit a local friend and connect over a week. The home was beautiful and cleaned well. The furniture... read more was very comfortable and the neighborhood was inviting. We really enjoyed our stay.
